11:00 a.m. – Service: In Search of Sanctuary: Reflections on Holy Ground, led by Min. Justin McCreary
Growing up, I watched many Vampire movies and shows. I read stories such as Bram Stokers Dracula. As an aspiring minister I had an issue with the vampire mythology of Dracula, Nosferatu, Spike, etc. What makes ground holy? I try to put myself into the place of a vampire every time I walk into a church. What does it feel like? Does my skin start to burn? Do I feel heavy or slow? Does lightning come from the sky? Is there a leveling system based on the holiness of the ground? Do cathedrals and community churches rank the same? Where do Synagogues lie? How about Mosques? What about a UU church? Would their skin prickle, or would they feel welcome in our Sanctuary?
