What makes a hero? The last decade has been full of Marvel movies, but that’s not what I mean. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, what many call the first Gay Pride Event, in fact Gay Pride Celebrations, are annually planned for June 28th, because young LGBTQ people stood against police discrimination and violence on that day. It is important to reflect on those heroes, many of them whitewashed, forgotten, and ignored. When faced with nothing left to lose, those heroes assembled.
